NIJ JOINS THE WORLD TO CELEBRATE GEW 2016

Nigerian Institute of Journalism joined the world last week to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2016. This year’s edition which took place from November 14 th to 18 th was themed, ’Empower the Youth, Expand your Horizon’ focused more on building strong youthful entrepreneurs for the nation. Students of Nigerian Institute of Journalism and others from different institutions in Lagos participated at the lecture organized to celebrate GEW at Yaba College of Technology where prolific entrepreneurs took turns to reveal the secrets behind successful entrepreneurs and how to widen their vision. JOURNALISM STUDENTS VISIT 1ST MSME FAIR

Oba Bada. Students of Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) Lagos visited the first Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) exhibition from May 5 th -8 th , 2016 at Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa – Lagos. The exhibition was a platform provided by the Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Co-Operatives for MSME operatives. According to the Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, and Co-Operatives, Mr. Rotimi Ogunleye, the platform was aimed at promoting made-in-Nigeria goods provided the opportunity for MSME operatives to develop their locally produced goods and innovations. The exhibition, partnered by Konga Online Shopping Mall featured over 100 entrepreneurs exhibiting their products and creative skills. I SEE THE LIKES OF DANGOTE IN NIJ – GBEMIGA OGUNLEYE

As the Nigerian Institute of Journalism comes together to celebrate the 6 th edition of their Students’ Week 2016, the Provost of the institution, Mr. Gbemiga Ogunleye has praised the effort of students as he expressed confidence in them during the Entrepreneurship Exhibition. Mr. Gbemiga said that he sees successful business tycoons like business magnate Aliko Dangote in his students during a speech he made to open the one week event. NIJ MARKS STUDENTS’ WEEK IN GRAND STYLE

…holds first entrepreneurship exhibition Nigerian Institute of Journalism marks 2014 students’ week in grand style with the hosting of maiden edition of entrepreneurship exhibition. The exhibition tagged, ‘In The Spirit of Entrepreneurship’ was declared open by the Provost of the Institute, Dr. Lizzy Ikem.  She commended the students for showcasing a rare spirit of entrepreneurship through the products they displayed. According to her, the exhibition has provided a platform for the students to display their skills as well as express their uniqueness and passion. Despite been the maiden edition, the participating students showed enterprise and exhibited products such as foot wears, liquid soap, customized picture frames and artistic items among others.

NIJ STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN GEW 2014

Students of Nigerian Institute of Journalism participated in the world’s largest celebration: Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2014 held recently in Lagos. The event which celebrated innovators and job creators was organized to launch ideas for driving economic growth and expanding human welfare. This year’s event which started on the 17 th to 20 th November was themed, ‘Building Entrepreneurship Ecosystem toward Entrepreneurship and Innovation’. The opening ceremony and lecture had in attendance NIJ’s National Diploma 1 students, while HND 2 students attended the exhibition held on the other days. Students of Yaba College of Technology, who were organizers of the event welcomed students from other secondary schools and tertiary institutions and sold to them things they were able to make with their entrepreneurship skills, giving inspiration to entrepreneurship students of NIJ. NIGERIAN INSTITUTE OF JOURNALISM CELEBRATE GEW 2015

Uche Blessed and Tobiloba Adenekan. The students of Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagoshas been urged to embrace the art of entrepreneurship beyond what they are taught in school. The Director, membership and marketing Institute of Entrepreneurs (IOE), Dr. (Mrs.) Folu Olagunju, gave the advice during the lecture organized by the Institute to mark 2015 Global Entrepreneurship Week in Lagos. Speaking on ‘Unleashing Your Potentails’, she said that the acquisition of skills will help students achieve success at an early age without depending on anybody. ‘You do not need to be dependent on anybody to achieve success in life, when you can learn a skill and be successful,’ she said. ENTREPRENEURSHIP SCHOLAR CHARGES HND 1 STUDENTS ON MEDIA ENTREPRENEURSHIP

CHINEDU VICTOR. HND 1 students of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba, Lagos have been advised to tap into the vast opportunities that lie fallow in the media industry to break out as entrepreneurs in the sector. Addressing the students at the 2019 Entrepreneurship Exhibition held on January 25, 2019 at the institute, entrepreneurship scholar, Miss Feyi Fadairo urged the students not to be afraid to take bold steps, but to break out as outstanding media entrepreneurs that will be forces to reckon with. Fadairo said that the media sector has remained untapped and needed trailblazers to take journalism to a great level in the country. NIJ STUDENTS' WEEK KICKS OFF WITH ENTREPRENEURSHIP WEEK

The 2018 Students' Week of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba, Lagos kicked off with the Entrepreneurship Exhibition Day organised by the National Diploma One class of the 2017/2018 set. The exhibition, which was the first ever the students would embark open in their academic pursuit was declared open by Gbemiga Ogunleye, the Provost of the school supported by Jide Johnson, the Deputy Provost; Dotun Adenijo, the Registrar and Bisi Bamishe, the Entrepreneurship lecturer.

ND III PART-TIME HOLDS 2018/2019 ENTREPRENEURSHIP EXHIBITION

The 2018/2019 entrepreneurship exhibition of the National Diploma III Part-Time class of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) took place in the school premises on January 26, 2019. The exhibition was described as a great and creative one had various groups made up of students in the class displayed their products and made sales. Some of the products put on display were branded mugs, branded towels, calendars, clapper boards, car flags, and other goods. These goods were branded and the students noted that they were all related to the mass communication discipline directly and indirectly. The exhibition was entertaining and educating, it also helped the students to understand what they have been taught in the Practice of Entrepreneurship course in class. The students collectively agreed that the exhibition enhanced their learning of the course.

ND II PART TIME 2018/2019 SET HOLDS MINI-EXHIBITION

CHUKS ANGUS NWANKWO. There was a colourful display of skills at the first semester mini entrepreneurship exhibition organised by National Diploma II Part-Time set 2017/2018 students of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) on Saturday, February 26, 2019. The event took place on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the Ogba campus of the Institute with branded and customised products of various types produced by the students belonging to each groups. According to the Entrepreneurship lecturer, Bisi Bamishe, the exhibition was part of the 2019 practical entrepreneurship assessment programme for the students. The exhibition which was graced by the Deputy Provost, Jide Johnson had on display items such as face caps, mugs, clapper boards, boom stickers, adire notebooks, shirts, water flasks amongst others.

NIJ STUDENTS HOLD FIRST ND ENTREPRENEURSHIP SEMINAR

Thursday January 24, 2019 was indeed a memorable day for National Diploma (ND) Two students of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Ogba, Lagos as they held their first National Diploma entrepreneurship seminar. The seminar tagged: ‘Securing Your Future Today’ was organised by Group One, ND 2A Full-Time students and it took place in the school premises. Speaking to the students on the need to identify and hone their skills early, the chief executive officer (CEO), Newman Oil and Gas, Paul Newman said that, that would prepare them to towards seizing opportunities that come their way. He said that it would also help them make the best use of their skills to become successful entrepreneurs. Relating his personal experience with hardship before succeeding as an entrepreneur, Newman advised the students to always explore opportunities necessary to establish their skills and make something tangible for themselves. ...
